Fueron de un corto bien que huye luego,
antes que vuelva la ocasión la frente,
muestras las que el Amor halló presente,
con mi alma ardió en su eterno fuego.
Pero glorias de un niño solo y ciego,
que cedo las deshace un accidente,
¿cómo pueden valer a un pecho ausente,
que en su dolor no alcanza algún sosiego?
Fundé mis esperanzas en arena,
que el viento esparce, airado, sin concierto,
y rendido al temor, perdí el recelo.
Cayeron, y el cruel, por mayor pena,
en altas nubes desmayó desierto,
ni alzar osando ni inclinar el vuelo.
