Error fue vano disponer el pecho,
enseñado al dolor de amor esquivo,
a nueva libertad, que al fin cautivo
vuelvo, no sé si diga a mi despecho.

Pudo traerme el crudo a tal estrecho,
que abrió en la fuerza de un semblante altivo
la vena, que de nuevo en fuego vivo
encendió al corazón, ya un hielo hecho.

¿Mas qué mucho? ¿No vemos inflamarse
un pedernal herido, y encontrado
un hierro en otro despedir centellas?

¿Cómo puede mi pecho no abrasarse
al golpe del Amor, si está tocado
siempre en el fuego de mis dos estrellas?
