El frigio nudo deslazar procura
el grande vencedor del Oriente,
y en vano cansa, aunque en mil modos tiente,
contra aquella difícil ligadura.

Con arte no, con fuerza se aventura
al fin, y rompe con la espada ardiente
toda su confusión, y juntamente
cumple o burla del hado la ventura.

Yo, que mal puedo con industria alguna
desatar este lazo que mi cuello
oprime y de valor muestra desnudo,

hacer debo lo mismo en mi fortuna;
mas puedo mal; que no es cortar un nudo,
Fernando, quebrantar este cabello.
