quité, y de Etolia en el famoso estrecho
quebré el orgullo, y sin valor deshecho
dejé primero el ímpetu otomano,
en este peligroso golfo insano,
do Francia llora rota el crudo hecho,
osando en tu valor, con fuerte pecho
pongo fin al imperio lusitano.
Alargue el mar su derramado seno,
que en todo él pienso ser victoriosa,
siguiendo en cualquier trance tu bandera».
España así con esplendor sereno
dijo al grande Bazán en la dudosa
conquista de la presa ya Tercera.
