Si intentas imitar mi luz hermosa,
templar, oh grande artífice, procura
en el candor de nieve llama pura
y confundir los lirios con las rosas;

y seré el color de ellos la amorosa
terneza que florece con dulzura

si la arte es para tanto poderosa.

Mezcla cinamo negro y sirio nardo,
casia, incienso, en que cubre el rico nido
vivo el arabio fénix en su muerte;

que si no te atraviesa el duro dardo
de su vista, dichoso y atrevido,
dar podrás muestra alguna de esta suerte.
