Quejoso ya del tiempo mal perdido,
las armas con que al dulce rey tirano
ofrecido seguí, esperando en vano,
pongo, de mis deseos ofendido.
Basta en mi tierna edad haber crecido
Amor, que en mí cansó su diestra mano;
consejo me parece ya bien sano
desviarme del curso proseguido.
Bien puedo, y tengo fuerzas y osadía,
y valgo a contrastar su gran dureza
y negar de mis males la victoria.
Mas no sufre el cruel que en la alma mía
mi luz no me presente su belleza;
y así, me aflige y vence la memoria.
