Yerto y doblado monte, y tú, luciente
río, de mi zampoña conocido,
cuando de los pastores el gemido
canté y mi mal con cítara doliente;

si nunca en vuestra cima y pura fuente
de oír se deja mi dolor crecido,
y si por el camino que han seguido
otros, su afán llorando, voy presente,

dos bellos ojos y un semblante honesto
son causa que cantar bien deseara
el principio y los fines de las cosas.

El tiempo a todo pone en ser perfecto;
espero, pues, si me es la edad no avara,
mostrar cuan varias son y cuan hermosas.
