Dulce fuego de Amor, dulce la pena
y dulce de mi daño es la memoria,
cuando renueva Amor la antigua historia,
que a su grave tormento me condena.
Mas cuando hallo mi esperanza llena
del bien y de promesas de victoria,
un súbito dolor turbia mi gloria
y todos mis contentos desordena:
que será esta luz pura de belleza,
la fe del justo Amor, en poca tierra
vuelta, y el fuego muerto, que me inflama.
¡Oh vano ardor de la mortal flaqueza,
si el fin, que ofrece paz de tanta guerra,
no dejará aun ceniza de mi llama!
