Crudas y heladas ondas fugitivas
que de mi bien la calidad hurtasteis,
cuando el hermoso pie ledas bañasteis,
al mayor sol entre mil piedras vivas;
así, tan alta suerte, ondas esquivas,
como ésta que mi luz visteis y amasteis,
nunca os dejé de honrar, pues le abrazasteis,
y siempre andéis de tal suceso altivas,
que, si de nuevo aquí volviere y ella
pisare algún peñasco helado y frío,
muy paso le digáis de esta manera:
«A ti misma te pisas, ninfa bella,
pues yo la yerba en mis riberas crío
y matas tú quien honra a mi ribera».
