Ya mis males se van casi acabando,
ya su fuerza por tierra está tendida,
ya no puede durar tan triste vida,
ya el manjar principal me va faltando;

ya voy tras de mi muerte rastreando,
ya el incierto esperar va de caída,
ya siento el fin de esta última partida,
ya el alma se va toda alborozando;

ya no hay por qué pensar en lo pasado,
ya no hay por qué llorar el mal presente,
ya no me da el que ha de venir cuidado;

ya no hay en mi morir inconveniente;
mas, ¡ay, qué sí!, que el cielo al desdichado,
por mayor mal, morir no le consiente.
