Tiéneme en duda Amor, por más tormento,
si será o no será lo que deseo;
del sí casi ningún camino veo,
del no dejo engañarme el pensamiento;

del sí le viene esfuerzo al sufrimiento,
del no mayor terneza en lo que creo;
con el sí me regalo y me recreo
cuando del no me asombra el sentimiento.

Mi cuidado, que más tal duda piensa,
dice que un cierto no, no me conviene,
y del incierto sí se desagrada.

Y el alma que entre el sí y el no suspensa
dudando vive, por mejor lo tiene
que el peligro de ser desengañada.
