Por los ojos amor entra y derrama
en el alma un ardor que la enflaquece;
el ansia de gozar, fuego parece;
templada obstinación su fuerza trama.
De un hijo que amor tiene, el cual se llama
deseo, la esperanza nace y crece;
mas contra el hijo y nieta el hado ofrece
un bastardo temor que los desama.
El fin que amor pretende es ser amado;
temor, que a ningún bien del padre alcanza,
viene contra los dos acompañado
de enojos, de sospechas, de mudanza,
desdén, ingratitud, celos, cuidado,
armado de mortal desconfianza.
