La víbora cruel, según se escribe,
si a alguno muerde, es ya caso sabido
que no escapa de muerto el tal mordido,
por poco que el veneno en él se avive.

Pero si por ventura acaso vive,
que aunque es dificultoso ya se vido,
queda de otro veneno defendido
que ni le empece ni hay por qué lo esquive.

Ya que por mayor mal quiso ventura
que no muriese yo después que el cielo
me dejó ver en vos su hermosura,

no tengáis de mi fe, dama, recelo,
que el ser sujeto vuestro os asegura
que no me encenderá beldad del suelo.
