La nueva luz en el nacer del día
al mísero Vandalio, que guiaba
sus ovejuelas, por su mal mostraba
cosa que su dolor mayor hacía.
Una avecilla que caído había
en la encubierta liga, vio que estaba,
y mientras por soltarse trabajaba,
más la enredaba el visco y la prendía.
Mirando el mal ajeno estaba atento,
y pensando hallar en él consuelo,
duro ejemplo le trajo al pensamiento.
«¡Mirad -dijo el pastor- que ha hecho el cielo
por mostrar en dibujo aquel tormento
que padece el que ha dado en un recelo!»
