Un blanco, pequeñuelo y bel cordero
Vandalio para Dórida criaba,
cuando viendo que el lobo lo llevaba,
dijo alzando la voz, airado y fiero:
«¡Al lobo, al lobo, canes, que os espero,
Argo, Trasileón, Melampo, y Brava!
¡Hélo!, Brava lo alcanza y, ¡hélo!, traba.
Soltado lo ha el traidor, por ir ligero.
Ya lo veo y lo alcanzo, ya lo tomo;
ya se embosca el traidor, ya deja el robo;
ya mis canes se vuelven victoriosos.»
Así decía Vandalio, y no sé cómo
por entre aquellos álamos umbrosos
Eco resuena ahora: ¡Al lobo, al lobo!
