De Menalca pastor la ninfa Flora
lloraba el duro caso extraño y fuerte,
y del hermoso rostro, ¡ay, dura suerte!
las rosas oscurece y descolora.
Ya se hace llorar, ya vuelve y llora
y en gruesas perlas su llorar convierte,
ya queda muerta y fría, y si la muerte
la deja respirar, dice algún hora:
«Parca si de mi bien te enamoraste,
cortarás de mi vida el hilo incierto,
gozarás del pastor, yo del engaño.
Mas, ¡ay!, qué digo yo que no acertaste:
que por matarle a él, a mí me has muerto;
el golpe has hecho en él, yo siento el daño.»
