Sólo aquí se mostró cuanto podía
en daño universal la cruda muerte,
do su fuerza valió contra el más fuerte,
y su valor contra el que más valía.
Por donde a Italia, cuanto bien tenía
y en eterno dolor se le convierte,
y el gran Marqués ha mejorado suerte,
aunque acá la más alta poseía.
Sus muchas partes sobrenaturales,
un esfuerzo, un saber nunca igualado,
un ser no concedido a mortal hombre,
con mil famosos hechos inmortales,
a la inmortalidad han consagrado
este lugar y su tan alto nombre.
