Cierto no puede ser sino buen hora
en la que yo tomé tal presupuesto,
como ver la hermosura de aquel gesto
que con tanta razón esta alma adora;
mas no penséis que no la veo ahora,
que el espíritu siempre está dispuesto
a ver la ausente, y mi memoria en esto
se engrandece, se ensalza, y se mejora,
ved cuánto, que no puedo ya conmigo,
pensando que estos ojos lo han de ver
como con los del alma ya la veo;
y pensando este bien, de ufano digo:
¡quién pudo jamás tanto merecer,
o que más alto fin, tiene el deseo!
