Mil veces de tu mano me he escapado
y al punto de la muerte y fin venido,
y tantas he tornado y te he seguido,
Amor, y nunca quedo escarmentado;
mil veces he propuesto y he jurado
de no seguir tu bando y tu partido,
viéndome en tu poder triste y perdido,
y tantas mi palabra y fe he quebrado.
Ahora, en este trance y mal que siento,
causado de tus manos crudamente,
bien justo era cumplir el juramento;
mas, triste, ¿qué haré, que no consiente
la dura suerte, el áspero tormento,
que el siervo del señor se halle ausente?
