En cuanto la materia es más subida
y más se aparta de profanidad,
en tanto, señor, vuestra habilidad
ha quedado de mí más conocida.
Y pues el santo tiempo nos convida
a dejar todo vicio y vanidad,
volvamos con amor y caridad
a Cristo, que es bondad summa cumplida;
y olvidando por él toda otra cosa,
vaga de su pasión el fundamento,
para la gloria que apetece, el alma;
que, sin él, vuestra vida trabajosa
es nave rota que le falta el viento
y en playa de enemigos queda en calma.
